Navigatiefout Macík in slotetappe

It was his first appearance at the Rallye du Maroc. With this victory, Van den Brink becomes the youngest-ever truck winner of the rally.
Back with Team de Rooy FPT
For Team de Rooy FPT, the result marks a return to the top step of the podium, following earlier victories this year at the Dakar Rally and the Morocco Desert Challenge. “I’m happy to be back with Team de Rooy FPT. They’ve built an incredibly good truck, and we’re really pleased with it,” said Van den Brink.
Navigation error by Macík in the final stage
The last stage featured a 257.3-kilometre special. After 60 kilometres, Mitchel caught up with Macík’s truck. Just as he was about to overtake, the Czech driver went the wrong way. Navigator Bart van Heun immediately directed the crew the right way, so the waypoint was validated without a detour. “That gave us a nice little lead over him. He lost about three minutes there,” Mitchel said.
Looking ahead to the Dakar Rally
Apart from the fourth stage, he finished ahead of his rivals every day, which gives the team a boost in its preparations. Mitchel concluded with satisfaction: “We’re really happy that, except for yesterday, we stayed ahead of the competition every single day. We’ve shown that we’re faster, and that gives us a lot of confidence heading into Dakar. This victory leaves us wanting more.”
