Dubai International Baja start van FIM Cross-Country Baja World Cup

De Dubai International Baja, georganiseerd door Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President van ATCUAE, en zijn team hebben de eer om het FIM Cross-Country Baja World Cup-seizoen te openen. Vanaf woensdag 7 maart verwelkomde het Dubai Autodrome de teams voor de administratieve en technische controles. De moderne infrastructuur van het Autodrome, gelegen in de Motor City in Dubai, biedt een uitstekende oplossing om het Service Park en Parc Fermé tijdens het raceweekend te huisvesten. Dit wordt het zenuwcentrum van de Dubai International Baja. Na twee dagen administratieve en technische controles zijn 27 motoren en quads klaar om het startpodium, dat zich ook in het circuit bevindt, over te rijden en van start te gaan. Vandaag gingen de deelnemers van start aan de Dubai International Baja met 50km verbinding naar de Al Qudra-woestijn. De 173km special over gevarieerd terrein bestaat uit kleine en grote duinen, evenals sabkhas. Daarna volgt nog een tweede special van 173km voordat de deelnemers over de finish komen bij het Dubai Autodrome. Mohammed Al-Balooshi, de meervoudige Arabische Motocross-kampioen, is een van de favorieten voor de overwinning te behalen. De vriendelijke Emirati eindigde vorig jaar nog op de derde trede van het.
De KTM-coureur zei: “Ik was vorig jaar erg blij met deze derde plaats, maar dit keer heb ik de intentie om mijn prestaties te verbeteren. Ik ben een gepassioneerde rijder, de race is mijn leven en ik kijk uit naar de start van deze eerste ronde van de FIM Cross-Country Bajas World Cup. Afgelopen jaar heb ik heel hard gewerkt, en nu is het tijd om de vruchten te plukken.”
“Ik wil nog niet nadenken over met wie ik de strijd aan moet gaan. Ik focus op mijn techniek om mijn prestaties te verbeteren. Mijn doel is om goed genoeg te zijn om anderen te verslaan, en mij altijd te verbeteren als rijder. ”

Balooshi Racing’s KTM UAE Team heeft andere kanshebbers voor het podium, of op zijn minst de top van de ranglijst. De Koeweitse Mohammed Jaffar en Sultan Al Balooshi, de jongere broer van Mohammed, plus Abdulla Shatti, die ook uit Koeweit komt.
In de categorie quads wil de Russische rijder Aleksandr Maksimov met zijn Yamaha Raptor graag naar de bovenste trede van het podium.

Dubai International Baja kick-starts the FIM Cross-Country Baja World Cup

The Dubai International Baja, being organised by Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of ATCUAE, and his team has the honour of opening the FIM Cross-Country Baja World Cup season. Starting on Wednesday, March 7th, the Dubai Autodrome will welcome competitors and their teams for administrative and technical checks. Located in Dubai’s Motor City, the Autodrome’s modern infrastructure has offered an excellent solution to also accommodate Rally HQ, the Service Park and Parc Fermé over the race weekend. This will be the nerve centre of the Dubai International Baja. With two days of administrative and technical checks completed, 27 motorbikes and quads will have the privilege of crossing the start podium, which is also located in the circuit, where they will receive the hand of Mohammed Ben Sulayem and the signal to start the race. On Friday, March 9, competitors permitted to start the Dubai International Baja will take an early 50km road section to the Al Qudra Desert and the start of the 173km special across varied terrain composed of small and large dunes, as well as sabkhas. My goal is to be good enough to beat others. For me, it’s always about evolving as a rider.” Balooshi Racing’s KTM UAE Team has other contenders for the podium or at least the top of the rankings: the Kuwaiti Mohammed Jaffar and Sultan Al Balooshi, the younger brother of Mohammed, plus Abdulla Shatti, who also hails from Kuwait. In the quad category, the Russian rider Aleksandr Maksimov will be keen to lead his Yamaha Raptor to the top step of the podium.
