Breslau Rally Poland: Extreme trucks winnaar vecht terug met MAN

De Breslau Rally in Polen is de grootste licentievrije Crosscountry Rally in het hart van Europa. De inschrijvingen zijn open en elke dag schrijven meer concurrenten zich in voor de editie van dit jaar. In 2018 zien we tijdens de rally opnieuw de “Fat winning Lady” genaamd “Burglinde” (de MAN KAT 4×4 Extreme-klasse rallytruck van het Duitse team “Rally Noobs”) terug. Niemand weet waarom hun truck is vernoemd naar een grote vrouw uit het tijdperk van de ridderlijkheid. Maar wat we wel weten is dat ze een broer genaamd “Schwerthelm” – (de assistentietruck van het team) heeft.

In 2017 wonnen de Rally-Noobs van Kay Messner, Nico Huth en Matthias Pietzsch de Rallye Breslau Polen in de heavy-duty Extreme-trucks met een grote voorsprong van 10:53:40 uur voor de IFA L60 van Pohle / Krauss / Goeschel (die slechts 1:01 minuten voorsprong hadden op de nummer 3, Hoenig / Buerger / Rabeler in hun MAN KAT).

“De rally bestaat uit acht etappes en we willen alle acht etappes uitrijden” zei Kay Messner vorig jaar tijdens het evenement wanneer we hem naar zijn doelen in de rally vroegen. “Natuurlijk willen we winnen, maar je weet het nooit. In 2016 waren we vierde in de voorlaatste etappe, en in de laatste fase moesten we stoppen vanwege een kapotte motor. De officiële bergingswagen van Achim Lust sleepte ons 300 kilometer terug naar Duitsland, het slepen van een MAN KAT door Polen is niet echt grappig. “

De Rallye Noobs startte hun Breslau-carrière 2011 in de auto categorie met een Land Rover Defender in de Extreme-klasse. Maar hoe kom je in de Heavy Extreme-trucks? “Het typische verhaal: na de etappes liepen we door het kamp om andere teams te bezoeken, stopten bij de grote vrachtwagens, de vrachtwagens werden steeds interessanter … en op een dag besloten we om te beginnen met een eigen vrachtwagen,” verteld Kay Messner. “Op een dag ben je besmet met het rally-virus, je houdt van het plezier, je ontmoet deze speciale vrienden een keer per jaar en geniet ervan om deel uit te maken van deze unieke rallysfeer”

De Breslau Rally werd in 1995 opgericht als de eerste Rallyraid op Europese bodem. In de loop van de jaren groeide het evenement uit tot de grootste Rallyraid in West-Polen, dicht in de buurt van de Duitse grens. Sinds 2013 is de rally in handen van de RBI Association, die ook de “Balkan Offroad” Rally opricht en medeverantwoordelijk was voor de “Baja Deutschland”.

In 2017 the Rally-Noobs of Kay Messner, Nico Huth and Matthias Pietzsch won the Rallye Breslau Poland in the heavy-duty Extreme trucks with a big lead of 10:53:40 hours (!) in front of the IFA L60 of Pohle / Krauss / Goeschel (who bytheway only had 1:01 minutes to the 3rd, Hoenig / Buerger / Rabeler in their MAN KAT). “The rally has eight stages and we want to finish all eight stages,” Kay Messner told last year during the event, asked for his aims in the rally. “Sure we want to win. But you never know. In 2016 we were 4th on the second to last stage – and in the last stage we had to retire due to a broken engine. Because we had no trailer, the official recovery truck of Achim Lust towed us 300 kilometers back to Germany. This is why Burglinde got her brother Schwerthelm – towing a MAN KAT through Poland is not really funny.” The Rallye Noobs started their Breslau-career 2011 in the cars category with a Land Rover Defender in the Extreme class. But how to end up in the heavy Extreme trucks? “The typical story. After the stages, we were walking through the camp to visit other teams, stopped at the big trucks. The trucks became more and more interesting… and one day we decided to start with an own truck,” Kay Messner reported. “One day you are infected with the rally-virus. You like the fun, meet these special kind of friends once a year, enjoy to be part of the unique rally atmosphere!” The Breslau Rally was founded in 1995 as the first Rallyraid on European soil. During the years the event grows up to the biggest Rallyraid during European forest, settled in Western Poland near the German border. Since 2013 the rally is owned by the RBI Association, which also creates the “Balkan Offroad” Rally and was partly responsible for the “Baja Deutschland”.
