ico Fuchs, rally driver member of the Peru Adventure program, ended his participation at Rally Poland in a big way, getting the 7th place in the general standings. The Peruvian athlete, who was timed at 6h18m17s, won three of the four specials on the last day that was run last Sunday.
The race, which belonged to the 9th round of the Cross-Country Rally World Cup, began on August 31 and ended on September 3. The host city was Szczecin and a total of seven specials were run with more than 500 kilometers of route. In some areas of the rally there were trees very close to the path. As a result of this, Nico had to turn the curves very carefully to keep control of his car.
On Saturday there were two specials of 215.90 kilometers each and it was the day with the most kilometers. The following day four specials were run and it was where the Peruvian driver could cut distances with his opponents jumping from the 9th to the 7th place. The final feeling of the driver in regards of his car were that he is getting accustomed to control it with more comfort. This is extremely important for the Dakar.
Baja Poland rally was a great test for the athlete due to the conditions in which it was run. The route was sandy as it will be the 2018 Dakar Rally that will start from Lima in January. Nico was able to try his car to the maximum in the race. Nicolas was measured and interacted with riders who will also be on the Dakar especially with the winner Nasser Al-Attiyah with whom Nico has established a close relationship due to the number of races that both have race against each other.
These drivers who will travel to Peru for the Dakar Rally will witness the difficulty of the Peruvian route due to its varied geography. Participants will demonstrate their skills behind the wheel in the six stages of the rally in Peru and once again the South American country will prove that it is an ideal place to practice adventure sports.
After Baja Poland, the recognized Peruvian driver will continue preparing for the Dakar Rally. Nico Fuchs will return to Peru to participate in the Baja Inka Race, one of the most important cross country races in South America.
