Dakar 2019 in zijn geheel in Peru

Na de uiterst succesvolle jubileumeditie van afgelopen januari keert de Dakar Rally terug naar Peru, van 6 tot 17 januari. Daar wachten de duizelingwekkende duinenpartijen van de Ica- en Tanaka-regio op de deelnemers.

Nadat vorige week eerst Chili en vervolgens Bolivia zich terugtrok, werd de keuze voor de organisatie enigszins beperkt. De Dakar van 2019 zal zich daarom in zijn geheel afspelen in Peru, met tien etappes die wel voor ieder wat wils bieden, want Peru heeft meer dan alleen duinen. De overwegend zandrijke en off-piste etappes vormen een enorme uitdaging voor de zowel rijders als navigators, maar ook de meer snelle pistes in de nieuwe regio’s die de rally zal aandoen, zijn om te smullen. Alle rallykwaliteiten zullen nodig zijn om tien dagen na de start in Lima daar terug te keren.

Hoe zwaar en uitdagend de woestijn van Peru is, werd het afgelopen jaar zelfs de grote sterren van de Dakar Rally soms pijnlijk duidelijk: Nasser Al-Attiyah verloor er de rally, Sébastien Loeb schreef er zijn auto af, Sam Sunderland en Nani Roma vonden er hun Waterloo, de helft van de Nederlandse deelnemers moest er afscheid nemen van de Dakar.

Dat is in de komende editie niet meer nodig. Voor auto’s, ssv’s en trucks die in de eerste week uitvallen, zal het vanaf nu mogelijk zijn toch de finish te halen, zij het buiten competitie. Wie al in het begin van de rally door mechanische malheur of een ongeluk in de problemen komt, kan na de rustdag weer aansluiten in een apart klassement en onder strikte voorwaarden die voorkomen dat zij een eerlijk verloop van de rally verstoren en de einduitslag beïnvloeden.

Op woensdag 23 mei zullen Xavier Gavory (directeur deelnemersrelaties van ASO) en Henk Hellegers (ASO-vertegenwoordiger in Nederland) in Loon op Zand aanwezig zijn om nadere tekst en uitleg te geven over de route van de Dakar 2019.

The unique Rally in the Rally with 500 kms in three days

Less than 2 months to start: From June 30th until July 7th the legendary “Rallye Breslau Poland”, founded in 1995, will start again in the north-west of Poland. In this year, the biggest off-road rally in Northern Europe will offer something unique: The Breslau 500 – a rally in the rally! Participants can decide to race only a weekend with around 500 kilometers of pure racing – or one week with approx. 2000 kilometers. The idea was born after the cancellation of the “Baja Deutschland”, which was planned for October 2018. The Breslau 500 features all the good things you know or have heard of the Breslau – and puts them together in a three-day-competition. Breslau 500 starts a day earlier than the full-size Rally Breslau – on Friday the 29th of June and ends on Sunday, 1st of July. The rally is licence-free and open for Motorbikes, Quads, Side-by-Sides (SSV), Cars and Trucks. Licence-free means, everybody with a driving license is allowed to start. The routes for Bikes/Quads and SSV/Cars/Trucks are completely unique and tailored for the specific demands of the classes. They will start either at the same time on different locations or there will be a sufficient time gap between the classes. This would give everybody the equal chance of driving the maximum out of the given time and provides the highest level of safety as well. The off-road rally will start for the first time in the city Dretyn, then switch to Miastko and finally to Drawsko Pomorskie, a city well known for its off-road rallies like the FIA World Cup rally “Baja Poland” or Polish Championship rally “Baja Drawsko”. And because the Breslau is a tough rally, there will be also a night stage.While the “Breslau 500” will finish on Sunday, 1st of July in Drawsko Pomorskie, the racers of the “full” Rallye Breslau will return to the camp to get prepared for the following week of great rally. All stages will be managed by a selected and highly experienced international Organisation crew. The timekeeping is based on reliable TAG Heuer devices and technology, Rally Control, tracking and safety is provided by Geotraq’s enterprise solution. Being a category of the Rallye Breslau, the Sporting and Technical Regulation for Breslau 500 are the same as the ones of the main event.
