Who will be behind the wheel of “Peter’s” 2016 Dakar winner?

The PH-Sport team will enter three 2016 versions of the Peugeot 2008 in the 2017 Dakar, including the car of defending winner Stéphane Peterhansel.

The 2016 version returned Peugeot to its status as the car to beat in winning the Dakar thanks to Stéphane Peterhansel, and took 9 of 14 stages. These formidable cars that swallowed up the dunes and blasted over the tracks were the class of the field and they will return for the start in Asuncion, Paraguay in the colours of PH Sport, which has just officially entered its first vehicle.

This team that built a solid reputation in the WRC is now turning its attention to rally-raid with some very elevated ambitions. They have chosen to take charge of these cars and develop three of the four 2008 DKR16s, while keeping the identity of the drivers, who will have the privilege of getting behind the wheel, a secret. However, the suspense should not last long, PH Sport team boss, Bernard Piallat has planned a preparation schedule for his team to rev up for the Dakar : “We are very enthusiastic about the idea of us taking on a new challenge. We are confident, because we have bought cars that are proven winners and we will have the support of Peugeot Sport to help us understand how they work. The timing is good, because this allows some time to properly organize the team and equipment. For this first year of operation, the objective is to schedule a program including the Rally of Morocco in preparation, then the Dakar in South America.”
